The chase for the Triple Crown won’t only take place on the dirt track of Belmont Park.

Our latest episode of The A Lot of Sports Talk Podcast touches on the subject of already great athletes and teams looking to cap off great seasons with championships, placing them on an even higher pedestal on the legendary status totem pole.  First, Sports-Reference.com reporter Mike Lynch breaks down the NBA Finals rematch between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs which starts on Thursday night.  In our conversation, we ask Lynch about the biggest difference between the Spurs going into last season’s Finals and this season’s, whether the relatively easy run through the Eastern Conference playoffs is a detriment to the Heat going into this series and which quintet of players that the Spurs could put on the court will cause nightmares for Miami’s defense during this series.  Also, we ask Lynch which team(s) and other NBA figures will have a lot of pressure on them going into next season.

Along with Lynch, we speak with San Antonio Stars guard and seven-time WNBA All-Star Becky Hammon about the NBA Finals series and get her breakdown of it, as well as how she’s feeling after an ACL tear cost her almost the entirety of the 2013 season. Hammon formed a good friendship with Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich while rehabbing, and Hammon shares what she learned the most from Pop and the staff, and how that has helped fuel her post-WNBA aspirations even more.

Also, our horse racing columnist and horse racing historian Michael A. Riley stops by and gives us his thoughts on the run that Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome has made so far, and whether the colt can break the 36-year Triple Crown drought on Saturday at The Belmont Stakes. In addition, Riley, who has gone to more than 25 Belmont Stakes races, talks about some of his best memories in person at the racetrack.
