BALTIMORE — The Baltimore Orioles’ chances for a perfect homestand went by the boards just a few hours prior, but they bounced back on getaway day and gave their fans one last glimpse of the team’s amazing home form before it goes away for the next week and a half.

Ramón Urías had four hits and scored half of Baltimore’s runs while starting pitcher Tyler Wells gave up just two runs while pitching into the sixth inning as the Orioles defeated the Boston Red Sox 6-2 inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday afternoon. The Orioles’ bullpen had another scoreless outing, with three pitchers combining for 3 1/3 scoreless innings to close the contest.

Baltimore ended its stretch of six games at home with a 5-1 record, as it held its opponents to two or fewer runs in four of the six contests. The Orioles starting pitching has really shone during the homestand, with two quality starts and two other starts of 5-plus innings and less than three runs allowed.

Today’s starting pitcher, Tyler Wells, started the homestand by tossing seven scoreless innings in a win against the Detroit Tigers on Friday, and he bookended the home stretch by allowing just four hits against a Red Sox lineup that scored eight runs and bashed out 11 hits last night.

The game was tied at 1-1 going into the bottom of the fourth, when the Orioles plated three to create all the separation it would need. Adam Frazier and Ryan O’Hearn led off the inning with singles before Urías followed with a run-scoring single to center and a 2-1 Orioles lead. Terrin Vavra executed a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance the runners to second and third before Cedric Mullins drove home O’Hearn with an infield single. Adley Rutschman’s sacrifice fly to left scored Urías and capped off the three-run rally.

Tanner Houck allowed four runs — three earned — and seven hits in five innings in a losing effort for the Red Sox on the mound. Enrique Hernández and Jarren Duran each had two hits for Boston, with the latter raising his season average to .400 after his 3-for-4 evening last night that included his first career grand slam.
