ANN ARBOR, Mich. — For the first 15 minutes, the big brother act was well and truly on as Michigan, like most “elders” in a sibling rivalry, allowed its opponent to think as if it had a legitimate chance to earn bragging rights and pull off a stunning victory.

As soon as the second quarter started, big brother soon went into “no more “Mr. Nice Guy” mode, turning another rivalry game into another rout.

Shea Patterson threw for a season-high 384 yards and four touchdowns, helping the Wolverines to score 24 unanswered points between the second and third quarters in a 44-10 victory over Michigan State at Michigan Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Wolverines defense held the Spartans to 220 total yards while sacking Michigan State quarterback Brian Lewerke four times.
