ARLINGTON, Texas — What officially was a six-year wait felt like an eternity for Air Force football. But after being the dominant force amongst the service academies on the gridiron for the past half century, the Falcons clinched one of the main objectives of every season on Saturday afternoon: bringing the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy back to Colorado Springs.

Quarterback Haaziq Daniels ran for a 17-yard touchdown for the game-winning score in the third quarter while the Air Force defense pitched a shutout in the second half as the Falcons defeated Army 13-7 at Globe Life Park in Arlington on Saturday, the win marking the 21st time Air Force has won the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy since the award’s inception in 1972.

The win also makes the Falcons bowl eligible at 6-3 as they return to their Mountain West Conference schedule for their remaining three games of the season.
