DALLAS — As three-point shot after three-point shot clanged off the rim, the Baylor Bears had to find another way to pull out another tough, low-scoring victory against a Power Five team on Sunday evening. It is a good thing that the championship pedigree still residing on the roster from the national title team of 2021 is there to catalyze the stifling defense that has been a hallmark of the program over the past decade, and it came to the fore once again to pull out another victory.

Freshman Keyonte George led all scorers with 19 points while fellow guard Adam Flagler scored seven of Baylor’s last 12 points as the No. 11 Baylor Bears defeated Washington State 65-59 in the Pac-12 Coast-to-Coast Challenge in Dallas on Sunday evening. Baylor held the Cougars to just 40.4 percent shooting in the contest (21-of-52) and held its third consecutive opponent to fewer than 64 points in winning its third straight contest.

“Defensively, everybody was locked-in and did a great job,” Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. “I thought we were a lot better being aggressive on the ball the last 10 minutes of the first half and the last 10 minutes of the game. I thought that was a big difference.”
