Snap Judgements: Legends Classic Semis (11.21.16)

Despite being more than 700 miles away from its campus, Notre Dame sure feels just as comfortable in Brooklyn than it does in South Bend.

On Monday night, the Fighting Irish, along with three other schools, took part in the semifinals of the Legends Classic at the Barclays Center in the NYC borough of Brooklyn. In the first game, it was Notre Dame, who won its first two 2016 NCAA Tournament games in the same facility last March, wasting little time getting acclimated to the arena once again, jumping out to a 17-6 lead on its way to an 89-83 over Colorado. Four players scored in double figures for the Irish, who are now 4-1 all-time at the home of the Brooklyn Nets.

The nightcap saw an upset, with upstart Northwestern of the Big Ten defeating No. 22 Texas in runaway fashion, 77-58. The Wildcats were led by the outstanding backcourt tandem of Bryant McIntosh (20 points, 5 assists) and Scottie Lindsey, who combined for 36 points. Northwestern, still the only school from any of the Power 5 conferences that has yet to reach an NCAA Tournament in its history, took a step towards amending that dubious statistic with a big non-conference win tonight and hope to double its pleasure Tuesday night against fellow midwest school Notre Dame.
