What do you get when you take journalists who cover the NFL regularly with knowledgeable fans chomping at the bit to have a go at the microphone to have their voices heard about the sport?

The answer is A Lot of Sports Talk’s newest podcast, Down and Distance.  Each week, A Lot of Sports Talk editor/founder Adesina O. Koiki will host an hour-long podcast discussing the state of many teams in the National Football League and preview the upcoming week’s games.  Along the way, each show will have at least one co-host, and this week’s co-host is New York City-based paralegal and lifelong Buffalo Bills fan Holly Culbertson. Also, each show will feature interviews with past and present NFL players, as well as journalists who regularly cover the NFL.

The show is broken down into four sections (downs), and our first down segment today focuses on which teams at the quarter pole might not keep up their hot starts to the season, as well as which teams can rebound from their 1-3 starts.  Also, we concentrate on the woes in New England, and whether things might get worse for the Patriots with a Sunday night match-up with the Cincinnati Bengals waiting in the wings.

On second down, we have an in-depth interview with Kristi Scales of the Dallas Cowboys Radio Network as she breaks down many elements of the 3-1 start by America’s Team, including the continued emphasis of running the ball and letting Demarco Murray be the headline player in the offense.

Third down brings our preview of some of the big games in the NFL on Sunday, including Alex Smith’s return to San Francisco as the Kansas City Chiefs look to build on their Monday night blowout of New England.  Holly then tackles fourth down, one hypothetical scenario involving a team or player in the NFL, and, after hearing the scenario, she will decide whether that scenario may actually end up happening in her opinion (go for it) or not (punt it).
