DALLAS — Starting the final two months of the season, the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team that appears to be playing for pride in a lost season, came up against a hellacious start to February that easily could pile misery on top of their already disappointing campaign. Instead, Columbus has been a thorn on the side of some of the better teams in the league over the past week, and the best team in the Western Conference just found out how dangerous the Blue Jackets can still be..

Joonas Korpisalo made 28 saves while Mathieu Olivier had a goal and two assists as the Blue Jackets defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 at American Airlines Center on Saturday evening. Liam Foudy, Adam Boqvist and Eric Robinson also scored for Columbus, who have won three of its last four games, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and the Stars during that span. (Their defeat game at the hands of the New Jersey Devils, the second place team in the Metropolitan Division, after allowing the game-winning goal with less than two seconds to play in regulation.)

“As a team, we knew what to expect from the Stars. It’s a similar game to Winnipeg with a little bit more speed,” said Olivier, who scored his first goal since January 20 and just his fourth goal of the season tonight. “They came hard at times during the game, but we stuck with it and found a way to get the win here and start the road trip with a win.”
