2013 Midnight Madness, Ed. 2- St. John’s

Our coverage of the beginning of the 2013-14 college basketball season continues by shifting over the men’s side of Big East Media Day. Steve Lavin’s first season in charge of St. John’s produced an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010-11, and hopes of a complete Big Apple basketball revival were buoyed by the top-flight recruiting class brought in for the following campaign.

One of those players, junior guard D’Angelo Harrison, has become the main scoring option for the Red Storm as they try to make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since that 2011 season. It has been an up-and-down couple of campaigns for Harrison and St. John’s, but when talking to A Lot of Sports Talk at Big East Media Day, Harrison spoke to why this season should be another breakout one for the Johnnies, as well as why a certain improvement in his game he made over the summer should make him even tougher for opponents to handle than last season (he finished third in the Big East in scoring in 2012-13).

Stay tuned for more interviews with players and coaches leading up to the 2013-14 college basketball season on A Lot Of Sports Talk, including more from 2013 Big East Media Day.
