WASHINGTON \u2014 One of the most-anticipated day on any NBA champion’s calendar during the following season is the visit to the nation’s capital to be feted on the White House lawn and reminisce one more time, with the President of the United States acting as narrator, of the team’s championship run. Then there’s the business of playing the professional team that resides in D.C., and given Steph Curry’s performances in those contests, the Wizards’ arena staff may seriously have to consider playing “Hail to the Chief” the second the four-time champion steps onto the court.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Curry put up 41 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, as the Warriors came back from an eight-point deficit in the final stanza to defeat the Washington Wizards 127-118 in a matinee game that honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Jordan Poole added 32 points as Golden State won for the second time in three games during its five-game road trip.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c(It) was kind of a gritty, dig deep type of night,\u201d Curry said. \u201cA big win for us.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Washington found themselves up 106-105 when Curry, after dribbling behind the back while being double-teamed, nailed a fallaway three-pointer with 5:54 remaining to give the Warriors the lead for good. Curry scored on the following possession with a leaning bank shot from the right side to extend the Warriors lead to three and, one minute later and with Golden State up one, he received a crosscourt pass from Poole before hitting a three from the left wing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

All 12 of Curry’s points in the fourth quarter came in the game’s final six minutes, and it was no surprise that Curry once again went off at the same time his team is set to head to the White House. Curry scored 51 points the last time the Warriors played the Wizards on the trip where a championship Golden State team was also visiting the White House, back on February 3, 2016.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
