ARLINGTON, TEXAS \u2014 Nathaniel Lowe should hope there are more of his bobblehead nights at the ballpark soon.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The man honored in tonight’s promotion at Globe Life Field came through with home runs in his first two at-bats, leading the Rangers to a 7-0 victory over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday evening. Nathan Eovaldi allowed just one hit through seven innings in a dominant start for the Rangers, who won their second straight contest.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Fans at the stadium received a Nathaniel Lowe bobblehead, in honor of him winning the Gold Glove Award at first base last season. Lowe’s bat had the golden touch instead, hitting half of his home run total on the evening, with the first coming on a changeup from Padres starter Dylan Cease that went just over the right field wall for a two-run homer to start the scoring.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the fourth, and with Texas up 3-0, Lowe worked the count on Cease to 3-1 before going the opposite way to launch his second homer of the night as the Rangers were well on their way to snapping an 11-game losing streak to San Diego dating back to 2018. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI was kind of wondering when I was going to get a chance to make a [defensive] play,\u201d Lowe said jokingly. “But making routine plays is a good enough way to get it done and hitting two home runs is super cool.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lowe’s bat is starting to turn the corner, as he now has four home runs in his last six games.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe’s been swinging the bat well coming into tonight’s game and it’s obvious he sees the ball pretty good right now,\u201d Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. \u201cIt’s good to see a guy that’s one of our core players come around. \u2026 Nate\u2019s a good hitter. He’s got big power. You guys have seen it. I’ve seen it and it’s all about getting your timing on the fastball and the changeup, which he hit out tonight. He’s a good hitter. When good hitters get hot, you see a lot of good things. I think that’s what you’re seeing with Nate.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
