ARLINGTON, TEXAS \u2014 Even before his Angels added some insurance on offense in the fifth inning, manager Ron Washington wanted to keep his starting pitcher, one who had not pitched above High-A baseball less than two months ago, out a little longer to see if he could finish out a start in style. And that he did.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Aldegheri made history with his six-inning outing, as he allowed just one run and struck out seven in the Angels’ 5-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. In getting the victory, Aldegheri, one of the top prospects in the Angels organization, became th first Italian-born player to earn a victory in a game since 1949.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
