BALTIMORE — If Friday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles was the first installment of a potential World Series match, WE WANT MORE OF EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY! NOW!!

OK, maybe not the 71-minute rain delay between the 10th and 11th innings. But definitely want everything that happened in the 10th and 11th, plus everything else before that and with the packed house full of the away team’s fans that created a charged atmosphere in the Charm City!

Oh, we have to get to the point of who won the game. That’s right.

It was the Phillies who outlasted the Orioles 5-3 in 11 innings, with Alec Bohm’s two-run double in the 11th breaking the final tie after a madcap 10th in which the Phillies took the lead but also had a runner thrown out at the plate, before the Orioles scored on a wild pitch while down to their final out in the bottom of the frame. All that occurred right before the rain blew through to put a halt to proceedings despite the instant classic nature of the contest surely making everyone wish it would never end.

“That’s probably the most exciting game that we’ve had this year,” Phillies manager Rob Thomson said. “It was like a playoff game, and the guys responded, so that’s good to see.”
