ARLINGTON, TEXAS — Even before his Angels added some insurance on offense in the fifth inning, manager Ron Washington wanted to keep his starting pitcher, one who had not pitched above High-A baseball less than two months ago, out a little longer to see if he could finish out a start in style. And that he did.
Aldegheri made history with his six-inning outing, as he allowed just one run and struck out seven in the Angels’ 5-1 victory over the Texas Rangers. In getting the victory, Aldegheri, one of the top prospects in the Angels organization, became th first Italian-born player to earn a victory in a game since 1949.
