WASHINGTON — The perfect start to both the Washington Wizards season and to their home opener was in danger of being undone during a second half where a 15-point lead turned into a scramble to just get away with a victory. One stroke of Bradley Beal’s right wrist, and a bounce off the backboard, saved the day for the Wizards and kept the good vibes rolling along to begin the new campaign.

Beal hit a running bank shot with 7.4 seconds remaining to lift the Wizards to a 102-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls in Washington’s home opener at Capital One Arena. Beal scored 19 points with eight assists while Kyle Kuzma led Washington in scoring with 26 points as the Wizards have now started 2-0 for a second consecutive season, the first such occurrence of consecutive 2-0 starts since the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
