BOSTON — Who needed to wait until the Super Bowl later on this evening to see deep balls and three-point field-goal attempts being converted? The Boston Celtics had all of us covered in the lead-up to the Big Game, unleashing their latest long-range onslaught to come away with another impressive victory over an opponent they are all too familiar with defeating.

Derrick White had 23 points, including hitting four of Boston’s 21 three-pointers, in helping to lead the Celtics to a 119-109 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at TD Garden on Sunday afternoon. Sam Hauser, replacing the injured Jaylen Brown in the starting lineup, made six three-pointers on his way to 20 points, while Al Horford also made four threes as Boston knocked down 21 of its 51 attempts from deep (42.2 percent).

All that, and Celtics’ All-Star and MVP candidate Jayson Tatum had one of his worst games of the season, finishing with 16 points but going just 3-of-16 of field goal attempts in the game and missing seven of his eight three-point attempts. Along with a misfiring Tatum, the Celtics win was made all the more impressive given that they were playing without two regular starters — Marcus Smart, missing his 10th straight game with an ankle injury, and Brown, recovering from a facial fracture suffered last week — and without their sixth man, Malcolm Brodgon, sitting out with a sore Achilles.

In a possible NBA Finals preview, Boston once again topped the Grizzlies to mark its ninth consecutive home win against Memphis and its 14th victory in the last 15 games against the Grizzlies overall.

Ja Morant led the Grizzles with 25 points to go along with seven assists and six rebounds, while Desmond Mane had 18 points. Memphis lost despite shooting an even 50 percent from the field (42-of-84) and making 12 threes themselves.
