ARLINGTON, Texas — While the Texas Rangers have been winning in a lot of different ways on their way to one of the most surprising starts for any team around the Major Leagues this season, their hope is that the way they came away with their latest victory will repeat itself more and more as the season goes on — the million-dollar middle infield slugging the team to victory after victory.

Second baseman Marcus Semien hit a tiebreaking two-run home run off the foul pole in left in the seventh inning, and shortstop Corey Seager followed with a solo homer as the Rangers used that three-run inning to defeat the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 inside Globe Life Field on Wednesday evening.Middle relievers Grant Anderson and Josh Sborz combined to give the Rangers 4 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball after Andrew Heaney departed, keeping the Angels’ offense at bay before the back-to-back homers in the seventh gave the Rangers the lead for good.

Semien, who went 2-for-5 on the evening, came into tonight’s contest hotless in his last 15 at-bats and was hitting a paltry .107 (3-for-28) following his 25-game hitting streak.

“I’m still doing the same things I was doing during the streak,” Semien said. “You’re going to have ups and downs, but you just fight through it.”

Seager has had no such hitting issues in his second season with the Rangers, as he is now hitting .357 on the season with a 1.060 OPS after his ninth homer of the season tonight.

Shohei Ohtani hit his league-leading 21st homer of the season, a two-run blast into the upper deck in left field in the ninth inning, in a losing effort for the Angels.
