ARLINGTON, Texas — If there is any place other than Chavez Ravine that will invoke great memories for many of the Los Angeles Dodgers players, it would be Globe Life Field. On Friday night, the Dodgers got their first chance to play in the Dallas-area since the the team’s last crowning achievement, and they were able to pull off the same magic on their way to a victory.

Los Angeles scored seven runs combined in the final three innings, coming from behind to defeat the Texas Rangers 11-5 in a battle of Western division leaders that could prove to be a World Series preview. Freddie Freeman hit a game-tying solo home run in the fifth inning, while rookie outfielder Jonny Deluca made a couple of great catches in centerfield in the bottom of the frame to keep the Rangers off the board and set up Los Angeles’ comeback in the later innings.

Though Freeman has a World Series title as a member of Atlanta in 2021, and Deluca is making his debut with the Big League team this season, many on the Dodgers’ roster were playing their first game in Globe Life Field since the 2020 World Series, where Los Angeles defeated the Tampa Bay Rays — with all of the games played in Arlington due to travel restrictions amidst the COVID pandemic — to win its first Fall Classic since 1988.
