ARLINGTON, Texas — On the occasions that one-time All-Star pitcher Martín Pérez has put the Texas Rangers in a hole this season, his offense has had his back more often than not. The same motif rang true for Pérez and the Rangers on Sunday, with the left-handed pitcher all but putting two different games into one: a disastrous beginning followed by a superb finish.

The Rangers scored multiple runs in each of the first three innings as they came back from an early deficit to score the game’s final eight runs in an 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers inside Globe Life Field on Sunday afternoon. Pérez, after allowing a grand slam to Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy in the first inning, was almost flawless soon after as he threw six innings, and the Rangers’ bullpen saw off the game as three relievers combined to throw three scoreless innings.
