DALLAS — After each of the first two games of the Western Conference semifinal series, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd put out a clarion call for anyone not named Luka Doncic to help the Mavericks superstar, whose individual greatness did not translate to a win in each of the first two games against the best team in the NBA. Evidently, all it took was for some home cooking to give Luka the help he needed, and Doncic more than played his part in turning their latest series on paper into a competitive series.

Jalen Brunson recaptured his scoring magic from the team’s previous series, leading the Mavericks in scoring with 28 points, Doncic was one assist away from a triple-double, and Dallas’ defense had a masterful performance in its 103-94 victory over the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in Game 3 of the Western Conference semis at American Airlines Center. Five players scored in double figures for the Mavericks, who will look to tie the series at 2-2 on Sunday afternoon.
