WASHINGTON — For a brief moment, the attention surrounding the New Orleans Pelicans basketball team after the In-Season Tournament did not center around Zion Williamson, though his absence due to an injury suffered last night will always be a cause for concern given his injury history. Without Zion, however, the Pelicans overcame a slow start to put together their best offensive performance of the season.

Brandon Ingram scored a season-high 40 points in leading New Orleans to a 142-122 victory over the Washington Wizards inside Capital One Arena on Wednesday evening. Trey Murphy III hit six three-pointers en route to 27 points off the bench as the Pelicans used a 47-point second quarter to overcome an early 10-point deficit to cruise to their second straight victory.
