UNCASVILLE, CONNECTICUT — Before Aneesah Morrow and her dominant inside presence became ensconced in Baton Rouge, she was a nightly terror in the Northeast, dropping double-doubles on the regular against any and all Big East teams she came across while starring at DePaul. Once again, Morrow got a chance to play against a Big East opponent, and once again she feasted.

And soon, Morrow will be back in the city she calls home, and where she first became a college basketball sensation.

Morrow had 24 points, 19 rebounds and three steals for the Tigers, as No. 5 LSU cruised to a 91-64 victory over Seton Hall in the first game of the Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase inside Mohegan Sun Arena. Mikaylah Williams had 22 points while Flau’Jae Johnson added 17 points with five rebounds.

LSU came into the game as the third-highest scoring team in the nation, averaging 93.7 points per game, and its 10-2 spurt to close the first quarter helped it to erase an early 13-12 deficit.

The scoring barrage went into high gear in the second quarter when the Tigers outscored the Pirates 30-10. Williams scored 14 of her points in the frame, knocking down 4-of-5 from three-point range, as the Tigers shot 12-of-21 overall in opening up a 52-25 advantage at halftime.

Maryland transfer Faith Masonius scored a career-high 29 points for the Pirates, who shot just 31 perfect from the floor. Jada Eads added 20 points for Seton Hall, who saw its four-game winning streak snapped.

Seton Hall will start conference play with its next game, at home against Providence, on Saturday. LSU travels to Chicago, Morrow’s hometown, to take on the University of Illinois Chicago on Thursday.
