DALLAS — The one drawback that SMU might have feared playing in wet conditions on Saturday afternoon came to fruition, as their lethal offensive attack was, figuratively, stuck in the waterlogged mire. However, the rains did not dampen a winning parade, as the Mustangs powered through another conference victory in their friendly confines.

Kevin Jennings threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as No. 21 SMU came from behind to defeat Boston College through the steady rain inside Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs defense shined through the gloomy conditions, recording five sacks and forcing a turnover of one of those that gave the offense a short field and set up what proved to the the game-winning score, a Jennings 14-yard strike to Randy Pittman midway through the third quarter.

SMU remains undefeated at home in Atlantic Coast Conference league games since moving to the league to begin the 2024 season, recording their ninth consecutive win against ACC foes and have won its last 15 straight home games in conference play (ACC or American), dating back to October 2022.

Jennings came into today as the FBS leader at 357 passing yards per game but was limited to just 160 today, the lowest output since he became the Mustangs starter in 2024. The rain limited the Mustangs to just three explosive plays (20+ yards) in the game, but one of those was Jennings’ 20-yard touchdown pass to running back Derrick McFall with 4:37 remaining in the contest for a 25-10 advantage.

Boston College had a chance to get within two points early in the fourth quarter after Pittman’s score for the Mustangs, but Eagles tight end Cameron Kossmann dropped a pass when he was wide open and most likely would have scored on a fourth-and-1 from the SMU 8-yard line.

Evan Dickens caught a 43-yard scoring pass from Boston College quarterback Mason McKenzie, and Danny Edgehille had a 6-yard touchdown catch before the Eagles’ failed 2-point conversion attempt left them nine points down with 2:07 remaining.
