WASHINGTON — One half of the CAA regular-season conference champion duo pulled off another feat in moving one step away from its ultimate goal. The other half saw its ultimate goal go from firmly in its grasp to slipping away and down the drain in the most excruciating way.

The highly-anticipated matchup in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game came halfway to fruition, as No. 2 seed Charleston, once ranked as high as No. 18 in the AP Poll this season, came from behind late to defeat third-seeded Towson 77-72 in the nightcap of the CAA semifinals. Hofstra, the No. 1 seed, however, was not able to hold onto a 12-point first half lead as No. 4 seed UNC Wilmington played spoiler to the potential 1-2 finals matchup with a 79-73 overtime victory to set up a matchup with the Cougars for the title game tomorrow night.
