NEWARK, NEW JERSEY — The giant killers of the Big East Conference were at it again! Before too long, Seton Hall’s status as an underdog will go up in smoke, just like the ranked teams that have come up against the Pirates over the last three weeks.

Guards Dre Davis and Kadary Richmond each had four points during a decisive 10-0 run that broke a second-half tie, as Seton Hall continued to defy expectations in the Big East after it defeated No. 7 Marquette 78-75 inside a sold-out Prudential Center on Saturday afternoon. Another of Seton Hall’s guard, Al-Amir Dawes, had 23 points to lead the Pirates, whose last home game resulted in a 75-60 victory over then No. 5 Connecticut on December 20 and, in between the games between the Huskies and Golden Eagles, also defeated then No. 23 Providence on the road this past Wednesday.

“When we stay connected, we can do anything,” Dawes said. “We expect to win a game like this. It’s what we got recruited for, to win games like these.”
