NEW YORK — Another disappointing home loss in conference play was staring in the face of the Fordham Rams once again, at least until Kyle Rose got a second chance to be a hero.

Rose’s three-pointer with 3.9 seconds remaining gave the Rams a 61-60 victory over George Mason inside Rose Hill Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. Rose had 16 points to lead the Rams, who have won two straight, both at home.

Before last Friday’s win against Duquense, the Rams had lost each of their first six home conference games this season.

Fordham was down by as much as 14 points in the second half before mounting its comeback, and took its first lead of the half when Rose nailed a three from the right wing with 4:44 remaining for a 52-51 lead. From there, neither team held a lead as much as two points as four lead changes occurred in the final four minutes.

The Patriots took the final lead of the game on a layup by Amari Kelly off an airball from Keyshawn Hall right before the shot-clock buzzer to give Mason a 60-58 lead with 24.2 seconds remaining.

On the final possession for the Rams, Rose missed a three from the right wing, but teammate Antrell Charlton forced a jump ball on the rebound which gave the Rams the ball back on the possession arrow. Charlton then turned provider, with his inbounds pass going to rose before the latter nailed the three to give Fordham its sixth A-10 win of the season.

Hall scored 15 points to lead the Patriots, who have lost two straight after their upset of then No. 16 Dayton, 71-67, last Wednesday.
