BALTIMORE — Many thrilling baseball games start with a slow boil before building up to become a contest that a spectator will remember long after heading for the exits. In the case of the Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday evening, a combined seven runs, eight hits and 18 batters coming to the plate in the first inning portended more fireworks later on, and both teams did not disappoint.

The final salvos were fired by the Reds, with Will Benson’s go-ahead run-scoring triple and TJ Friedl’s succeeding two-run home run in the 10th inning leading the Reds to an 11-7 victory over theOrioles to claim the series victory in a match-up of two of the surprise outfits in Major League Baseball this season.
