BALTIMORE — It may be a stretch, but the latest blessing that Anthony Santander provided the Baltimore Orioles might put him up for canonization in the Inner Harbor.

Saint Anthony definitely has a ring to it. And in a devil of a time for the Orioles, Santander provided, undoubtedly, the biggest hit of the season for Baltimore in its desperate attempt to hold onto a playoff spot that, just a few weeks ago, seemed a surefire lock.

Santander cracked a walk-off two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Orioles to a 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday afternoon. Baltimore ended a three-game losing streak in the most dramatic way possible, and Santander’s shot came after the Giants scored a run in the ninth to tie the game and threaten to sweep Baltimore in the first of their two series to close out the home portion of the schedule.
