WASHINGTON — This time around in the nation’s capital, Giannis Antetokounmpo did not have to resort to chicanery in attempting to record a triple-double.

And in a mere matter of moments, the Milwaukee Bucks won’t need to worry about any other results to make sure that the road to the NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference goes through the land of Laverne & Shirley.

Antetokounmpo had 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, leading the Bucks’ offensive explosion in a 140-126 victory over the Washington Wizards inside Capital One Arena on Tuesday evening. Jrue Holiday came within one rebound from joining Antetokounmpo in the triple-double category, with 26 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Tonight’s win coupled with the Boston Celtics’ defeat later on in the evening in Philadelphia confirmed that the Bucks will finish the season with at least a share of the best record in the Eastern Conference, and their magic number to secure home court advantage throughout the NBA Playoffs is down to one.
