WASHINGTON — Once the Butler Bulldogs caught fire, they figuratively burned down the house in completing their first in-conference season sweep of the campaign.

Pierre Brooks II dominated with 20 points and 11 rebounds, as all five starters for Butler scored in double figures in a 90-66 victory over Georgetown inside Capital One Arena on Wednesday evening. Butler shot 57 percent for the contest, including a blistering 62 percent in the first half.

Neither team led by as many as three points over the first 12 minutes of the game before the Bulldogs went on an extended 24-6 run — one that included 15 consecutive points by Butler — to take a 44-29 lead with just under two minutes to play in the first half. During that run, the Butler made 11 consecutive shots from the field.

Another 13-0 run in the second half ballooned the Bulldogs lead to 75-51 just before the under-8 media timeout.

Butler opened conference season with a win at Hinkle Fieldhouse against Georgetown on December 19 before it proceeded to lose five of their next six contests. The Bulldogs are now on a two-game winning streak after they defeated DePaul in Hinkle last Saturday.

Jayden Epps scored 16 points to lead the Hoyas, who shot just 34.8 percent from the field (23-for-66). Georgetown has lost four straight and dropped to 1-7 in conference play.
