NEW YORK — Even with the millions of people who proudly call themselves “bracket heads” during this time of year, every year, no one may be a bigger fan of the month of March than Northwestern’s Ryan Langborg.

For starters, he gets to blow out birthday candles every March 21, along with getting gifts from his loved ones. But the biggest gift on offer has been one he’s given out to two different schools in the NCAA Tournament over the past two seasons, and on Friday afternoon, Langborg turned out the lights on one of the Final Four participants of last year soon after blowing out the candles on the birthday cake.

Langborg continued his mastery of the Madness, scoring 12 of his 27 points in overtime for the Wildcats, the No. 9 seed in the East Region who took out last year’s Cinderella, No. 8 Florida Atlantic, 77-65 to set up a date with No. 1 seed and defending national champion Connecticut on Sunday.
