BALTIMORE — It took about six months, but the Baltimore Orioles are now providing the late-game heroics that their fans had gotten used to over the past two years, even if the win total in 2025 isn’t as plentiful. Even better, it’s the future of the team that’s providing the magic, allowing many in Birdland to dream about the team’s renaissance much sooner than later.
Rookie Dylan Beavers hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates inside Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Wednesday evening. Beavers went 2-for-3 on the evening wile Jackson Holliday tied the game for Baltimore with a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning to extend the game for the O’s.
Four of the last five victories for the Orioles have come in walk-off fashion, including last night’s win over Pittsburgh after another rookie, Samuel Basallo, singled to left in the 11th to decide the series opener.
Just less than a month ago, the Orioles were the only team in Major League Baseball without a walk-off win, and didn’t record its first until August 13, when Holliday hit an RBI double in the ninth to life Baltimore to a 4-3 victory over the Mariners.
Beavers, another one of the top prospects in the organization and in baseball, marked his 20th career game with the game-winning knock, and his two-hit night lifted his average to .305 in his short time in the Bigs.
