WASHINGTON — The luck of the Irish came a couple of days early for Michael O’Connell and NC State State on Friday night, and, because of that, the pot of gold that is an NCAA Tournament bid is just one more win away.
O’Connell’s 29-foot prayer of a three-pointer banked in at buzzer to force overtime, and the tenth-seeded Wolfpack dominated the extra session to defeat No. 3 Virginia 73-65 in the second ACC semifinal inside Capital One Arena in Washington.
