NEW YORK — Running back Jeremiyah Love produced a couple of picturesque moments on his way to making school history inside a historic venue in the Big Apple, from a Nutcracker-like leap seen in Radio City Music Hall into the end zone to a mad dash that any New York City marathoner would appreciate. When asked if he had seen any still photos of those moments on his phone, Love said he had not but would soon do so.
Whatever it looked like on his phone, the Notre Dame football team has been picture perfect for over months now, and are one final victory away from officially being one of the main subjects in the first expanded College Football Playoff picture.
Love scored three touchdowns, including two on the ground, as No. 6 Notre Dame passed another Top 25 test, rolling over No. 18 Army 49-14 inside Yankee Stadium, a celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the two institutions playing each other on the gridiron inside the original ballpark in the Bronx. Riley Leonard completed 10 of his 13 passes with two touchdowns as the Fighting Irish extended their winning streak to nine.
During the two-month undefeated stretch, which started after a shocking home defeat to Northern Illinois in Week 2, Notre Dame has outscored its opponents 392-99, with eight of its nine victories coming by at least 18 points.
