NEW ORLEANS — I get it, America. Many of you are never going to be Swifties, and that’s OK. (Though enough of the same gaggle sling invective at Taylor Swift that debases any dialogue about her impact, whatever that magnitude is, on the National Football League and its viewership numbers.)
But according to her future Pro Football Hall-of-Fame boyfriend, her grind on tour rubs off on his work ethic more than anyone would expect.
Travis Kelce’s dedication to the sport, a drive that needs to be borderline maniacal to even stick around as a professional football player for even just a couple of years, is just as unquestioned as his place as one of the all-time great pass-catchers in the game. Whatever role models and other exemplary figures that molded Kelce’s physical and mental discipline throughout his career, make sure to place Swift high atop that list.
Kelce specifically shouted out the singing icon during Thursday’s media availability at Kansas City’s team hotel, as he noted that the highly-successful “Eras Tour” that Swift embarked on last year was a chance to marvel at her physical stamina as much as the impact that her songs continue to have on millions around the world.
“Her work ethic, what I saw on that tour last year, was pretty remarkable,” Kelce said. “I mean, to see the week in, week out traveling from one country to the next.”
Many of those countries Swift stepped foot on are now familiar with Kelce and the sport of American football due to Taylor’s ubiquity at Chiefs games, and her presence is expected when the football game with the biggest international audience, Super Bowl LIX, takes place on Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs look for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat as they go up against the Philadelphia Eagles.
